Wat is Dark Academia?

Wikipedia beschrijft Dark Academia als “een sociale media-esthetiek en subcultuur die zich bezighoudt met hoger onderwijs, schrijven/poëzie, kunst en klassieke Griekse en gotische architectuur. De subcultuur wordt geassocieerd met oude kunst en klassieke literatuur”. Om het iets te versimpelen, hanteren wij de volgende (kortere) definitie voor Dark Academia boeken in het specifiek: Dark Academia is een (sub)genre in de boekenwereld waar het verhaal zich afspeelt in een academische setting en (vaak) een donkere ondertoon bevat.
