BOOK TWO IN GLOBAL PHENOMENON, THE TORCH TRILOGY. LOVE, POWER, REBELLION…
Her songlight felt like it was burning through me, turning me into a thousand stars.
I will find her. I will free her. In a world where songlight is either your greatest gift or your greatest curse, the Brethren are tightening their power.
But Torches are still finding ways to commune. Lark is on the run, headed for Brightlinghelm, with an enigmatic enemy in her boat. Nightingale is a prisoner, working to free herself from Sister Swan’s gilded cage.
Rye is crossing the ocean on a journey into the dangerous unknown. And Piper must play his role as the Brethren’s elite airman. All four are united by a desire for peace.
But peace feels more elusive than ever. Could Petra, in her majestic airship, be their saviour, or will her people prove an even greater threat?

Over de auteur van Torchfire
My name is Moira Buffini and I am a dramatist, screenwriter, showrunner and most recently, novelist. My debut novel is called Songlight and is published by Faber.
I was born in England to Irish parents and wrote my first play aged fourteen. Since then I have written many plays, four of them for the UK’s National Theatre. I have also written plays for the Almeida and Kiln, and two of my plays, Dinner and Handbagged, have transferred to London’s West End. As a screenwriter, I have written four feature films (Jane Eyre, Tamara Drewe, Byzantium and The Dig). I also co-created and was showrunner on three seasons of Hulu’s Harlots.
